Monday, May 4th Learning Plans

May 4th -

CKLA Unit 7 lesson 14 CLICK ON THE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON FOR TODAY AND MY LESSON GOES THROUGH ALL OF THIS.

Today we are going to continue learning about writing how-to instructions.
In our last lesson we tried drawing some shapes in a random order. Then we drew shapes with very clear instructions and you were able to draw a house by following the instructions.

Please try following these steps in order:

Take your shoes off
Take your socks off
Put your shoes back on.
Put your socks back on.

What is the problem with these instructions? (The steps are out of order)
What would you change to make these directions correct? (Switch the last two directions)

Now try doing worksheets 14.1 & 14.2 You are going to cut out pictures and sentences and then paste them in the proper order to create clear instructions for planting seeds. Please lay the pictures down in the correct order- don’t glue them yet.
(Steps are 1. Place soil in a pot. 2. Make holes in the soil. 3. Place the seeds in the holes, one seed per hole. 4. Close holes and wet the soil. 5. Keep the soil moist.

Look at these steps. This is what good instructions look like. The writing starts with a title, has steps that are numbered and in the correct order and has a summary at the bottom of what will happen if you follow the steps.
